Default Lost control of the Left Action Button

    HI,

I'm hoping someone can help.

I recently changed an option on one of my downloaded applications, that changed the function of the Left action button. Unfortunately this resulted in making it detach from the normal windows mobile function of linking to the onscreen option field. In other works the Left action button now does nothing except in the one application.

The "Buttons" setting option in "Settings" does not provide any way of assigning the right or left option buttons, so I'm stuck.

Is this a registry hack now ? :frown:

    regards,
    Russell

Default Lost control of the Left Action Button

    Hi,

I'm surprised that no one on a "everything treo " forum knows nothing about how to set up the left action button.

Should I be talking to Plam or Microsoft instead ?

    Regards,
    Russell

welcome to ET Russell. What program did you install that caused the left action button to get hijacked? Have you tried uninstalling the application and then checking to see if the left action button returns to normal? Is the application you installed truly compatible with the treo ie 240x240 square screen touch screen? If not that may be your problem. Next I would try to go to start settings personal buttons and see if you can assign the 3rd party program which nhijacked the left action button to some other button or symbol on the keyboard which might then free up the left action button and restore it back to the default setting. Other than an that you need to do a good backup and do a hard reset.

    Thanks for your reply.
The program I loaded was TCPMP, this is a movie player that shows .avi files. My mistake was using its hot key functions to set the left control button for opening files. (It listed as F1). Since then I have done many soft resets, removed the hotkey, the application, and looked through the registry for some clue. The only thing I havent done is a factory reset, this would be my last resort.

    Regards,
    Russell
