    Default memory cards

So, is it possible to use an 8gig memory card (or at least anything bigger than the 2 that palm specifies)?

there is a document discrepancy betweenn Palm.com (says supports up to 4gig) and ATT.com (says up to 2gig supported). But then i saw in a different post people that were braggin about being able to use up to an 8gig(sandisk) .

anyone, any thoughts. My one gig just doesn't cut it.

i guess i'm not sure, does the upgrade to wm6 or even 6.1 effect the memory card funtionaility?

Upgrading to WM6 adds drivers to support SDHC cards. WM5 only supported standard SD.

Several folks are running 4GB SDHC cards under WM6 with no issues. I've heard of at least one other who is running an 8GB as well.

Some claim it could theoretically run a 32GB SDHC, although I don't know of anyone who has done it.

So, the short answer is YES. It does affect memory card functionality.

...tell me, how much is "enough"? look at it this way... why 1, when 4 or 8+ works. for me, between just the pdfs and word files - 1gb compromises the music space i use while sorting through them... just my side of things.

how much do you think is enough, KNemesis? isn't it totally amazing that the concept of a gig of memory, in a handheld device is even possible - considering our first full sized computers (of my gen) were measured in mb?

long live progress, is it wrong to want to exploit it to the end of productivity?

thanks to fastlerner for the continued help.

sorry if i offended you or the progress of technology...i was just curious. i personally have 2gb...but seem to think its a bit on the side of overkill. but then again...i dont really have too many PDFs and only a few word docs and music.

You've got the right thread. Post #8 in that thread says they're using an 8GB card with no issues.

K*. i took no offence at all. i just remember the days that a 20mb server harddrive was sweet. now i carry around more memory than some major systems would run on.

*lerner. Thanks for checking that. it's an older post, so i just wanted to see if anyone here knew anything about it.

No sweat. I play in both forums. I'm kinda glad you pulled that out as I had been struggling to remember where I had seen someone using the 8GB card.
