New 750 owner with help needed. - Treo Forums

Im not a cingular/at&t customer yet but i just bought a 750 on ebay recently. The auction was only for the phone and the stylus but i had to purchase the battery and the accessories separately. I purchased a usb cable from ebay and it fits in my treo but has a 650 sticker on it. Last night when i tred to snyc to my computer and i got a hardware installation failed message and it mentioned that i might need to use a cd-rom to finish the setup. Today when i tried again the setup wizard doesnt even come up and my computer isnt even recognizing that hardware is connected. Im wondering if i need an usb data sync cd-rom or do i need to just purchase a usb data cable from the treonauts store. I dont think the lack of a sim card would have anything to do with syncing but i may be wrong. Anybody can tell me whats going on.

well the usb cable if its a sync cable should do okay. Now the 650 cable is fine but if its the one that comes with the 650 it requires a power connection that plugs into the sync cable to charge and sync. I know as I am still using my spare from my 650. I would suggest that you uninstall the installation software and then reinstall. the lack of sim card only affects the phone not the pda part. When installing anything on the 750 I find that its best to be in programs screen during installation because when the program is installing the screen comes up on the desktop to chweck the device for further action if necessary and if you are not in that screen the reminder disappears and you cant get to it and the installation doesnt finish. The action necessary is to tell it to install on the device or the expansion card. If you want to buy any accessories check out the ET store here. or go to ebay. I got my 750 brand new for 384 including shipping with all the normal contents. Its awesome!

i dont have the installation software and i have been looking in the ET store and i dont see anything about data sync software but i guess im looking in the wrong section or something.

i wonder if i can go to a cingular store and just buy the accessories that come in the box.

I dont think they will do that. I tried to go buy an installation cd when I got my 650 on ebay and they would not. And when the antenna broke on the 650 they would not help with a spare. I would suggest looking on loine on ebay thats where i got the 650 disk. If not find someone who has a 750 and borrow theres long enought to do the installation.

i found out, i downloaded active sync and now im trying to figure out how to put music in the my music folder so i can click on the song i want to play instead of going through Windows media player
