Need Help No Vibrate On Treo 750

Ok folks here is one that keeps coming up but I tried EVERYTHING anyone mentioned here so I am ready to bang my head in the wall & get another (non-palm!?) phone. :gasp::gasp::gasp:

I have an AT&T Palm Treo with Windows Mobile 6, CE OS 5.2.1620 (build 18125.4.4.2) that i believe was purchased almost 3 years ago. The "software version" is TREO750-2.25-ATT. Hardware version is "A." The Firmware version is 1.54.27.00 .

I did a heard reset last week because my "messaging" was shutting down all the time presumably due to corrupt messages that refused to delete. When the phone finally came back to life, I lost all the vibrations.

Here is what I did for troubleshooting:

    1. I tried another hard reset.

    2. I changed all the settings in "Sounds & Settings" to give me vibrate no matter what position the switch on top was in.

    3. I did a bunch of soft resets.

    4. I checked the "voice command" and it is off.

    5. I made sure TTY wasnt activated.

Like I said, I did everything I read in the other posts but nothing worked. I was on with someone from Palm who had me do all the above a bunch of times over and over again. I then called ATT and did the same. I guess they all think we are stupid.

Does anyone have any other ideas? When I had the old version of Mobile etc., I recall a patch was issued. I seem to recall downloading the patch when I had the problem pre Mobile 6 and it has pretty much worked since. I found the patch but it wouldnt let me install due to my "software version" being later.

My wonderful wife suggested possibly going back to the older software version so I could install the patch and then upgrade to Mobile 6. Any comments? Is any of this available online?

Someone else mentioned that sometimes a cable inside the phone is the culprit and I should open the phone to fix it. Does anyone have any comments about that? I am not looking forward to doing it!!

    Thanks in advance!!

Well I dont know what happened but all of a sudden it started working again.

In no particular order, what may have happened:

    1. I had a device.exe error which I "reported" to MS.

    2. I went to record a sound and after recording the sound (or maybe during?) for some reason I put the phone on silent (top switch thingy) and it vibrated.

    Its been working all day!

Any ideas what the problem could be???????

You are not alone. I have the exact same problem. I have tried exactly everything that you have. I am looking for answers too.

Sorry to hear you have the same problem but I am glad you posted as I have an update to post.

It seems from what I have read online that this could actually be more of a hardware issue than a software issue. What I mean is from what I have read about this, there seems to be a wire/cable in the phone that gets crimped or something like that if the phone drops.

This made no sense to me until I dropped the phone (again) and the vibrate stopped working (again). What I did was, I called my phone from another line and while it was ringing, I banged the bottom corner of my treo against my open palm (hand). Low and behold it started vibrating again!!! So now I do that everytime the vibration stops and I also know to be aware after some sort of fall (even small ones) that I may have a vibration problem.

It was suggested to me that I should open by phone and un-crimp the wire myself but I have two left hands and I am afraid to ruin the whole thing.

Dont bother calling any customer disservice for help as all they will make you do is do a hard reset which as you no doubt know, is a royal pain. If your phone is still under warranty by all means have your provider take it back and have them send you a new 750 or even an upgrade. The provider will do just about anything to keep you happy and the price of a phone to them is well worth their expense.

Thanks for the info. I tried that just now and nothing happened. I have a friend that is good at taking these phones a part and putting them back together...I will have him check out the crimped wire. Thanks so much for the advice.
