Default No voice (in OR out) on the phone of my 750

My new 750 happily rings another phone, and happily rings when another phone calls it. But when I press the little green button, no sound (either on my 750, or to the other person's earpiece).

I've spotted the volume buttons on the side of the 750, and phone volume is switched to maximum.

Seems like a basic fault in the device... but maybe there's some button I as a newbe user haven't pressed, or some standard problem people know of?

The phone is an unlocked model, and I simply put in my PAYG card. I've had it out again and replaced it- doesn't seem like a contact problem.

    Any thoughts?

Are you running wm5 or 6. WM5 has an audio problem and there is an update. Are you in the US? Do you have a 3g sim card if not there may be your problem. Or you may have defective sim card.

    Thanks for responding.

WMS 5. But from what I've read of this audio problem, it seems to be about phone ringer not sounding when there's a lot of other audio going on. In my case there's no other audio going on (I don't for example use my Treo for listening to music) and the phone ringer on my Treo sounds loud and clear.

    > Are you in the US?

    No, UK.

    > Do you have a 3g sim card if not there may be your problem.

No, I don't have a 3g sim card, and was not aware that one might be needed. I have an ordinary pay-as-you-go card, the sort of card used in the UK by people (like me) who do most of their phoning on landline, and call on the mobile (/cellphone) only occasionally. (I bought the Treo mainly as an electronic organiser, enabling me to carry around my appointments, my contacts list, and my current outstanding tasks. I do my web browsing and email on my broadband connection on my home PC.) Is this a problem? I don't see anything in the Treo user guide that says I need a 3g sim card. However, Orange in the UK has just launched a 3g PAYG sim card, so I guess if I need one I could get one.

It works perfectly well in my old (simple Nokia) phone.

Well I have the 750 US version and it requires a 3g sim card thats what they called it I dont think it has anything to do with 3G service speed. A better name might be a 64 bit sim card. I had one in my 650 before I got the 750 so it worked just fine when I swapped it in to my 750.

I have the same problem with my 750 and I'm running mobile 6 pro and have a working 3G car. The one thing you should look at, make sure the TTY is turned off on your phone, some phone have it on. I'm guessing you will find this setting off but double check just for the heck of it. Go to Settings\phone and you will be dropped into the corect screen. if TTY/TDD is on, set it to off. Lets hope this is the problem. I'm still looking for a cure to my.

If I remember right, the WM5 audio bug can affect any audio the device produces, from ear piece to loud speaker, etc... It's a problem with the audio driver that controls those devices. For anyone with WM5, I highly recommend upgrading to WM6. Load the audio patch at bare minimum.

As for Dennis's WM6 device, I'm assuming you've done a soft reset (reset button). Have you attempted a hard reset (after backups, of course)?
