Palm is still denying the release of the 750 as of this afternoon but engagenet posted this article today stating that it will officially be available to consumers on Jan. 8.

The author of this article told me that palm won't be selling unlocked versions of this phone and that Cingular won't be selling it without a contract or service. How do I get my hands on it then if I live in Canada???

as to pricing with no wifi why jump on to this device when you can get a samsung blackjack with no wifi but 3G for 40.00 with a two year renewal, or the 8525 for 239.99 with a renewal for 2 years. One of the commenters on the engadget site was not complimentary to the intelligence level of Cingular soon to be ATT Wireless ( have we heard that name somewhere before?). One can only hope that the 750 will follow the same path as the 680which has in short order become free after rebates with a new plan or 39.99 after rebates with contract extension. Otherwise if I go WM5 its either going to be the 8525 or the blackjack. Especially if Samsung does the update to Crossbow which will add editing of WM office docs. We'll see soon enough (maybe)

Sure, there will be places to unlock the phone enabling usage on other networks. The question is where do you purchase a Treo 750, if not from Cingular which requires a contract. And eBay is not a viable option.

I don't think it's a fair comparison. Touch-screen, "Today" screen, editing of Office documents and WM 5 Pocket PC edition are just a few reasons people why people would choose the 750. For professionals who are looking for a "mobile office", the Treo 750 fits the bill.

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the Treo 750 to be free after rebates. Perhaps in 2009.

Default 750 demo in San Diego

so I'm visiting San Diego on bus and large CING store is right next to my hotel..
    aha, a sign me thinks.

so i ask the question on all our minds....and....

the rep said they had a demo at the store and about 1.5 weeks ago the regional mngr came by and took it away and told them not to mention anything about availability of the 750 to any customers who were asking.

After dashing my hopes, he added, "But that doesn't mean it won't be available ever. it may just mean they had some problems with it. There are Cingular branded 750s all over the internet."

    a-duh...

well as I understand it StillRockin the trend is away from touch screen and stylus towards pure smartphone as far as WM is concerned and Crossbow WM6 which has been seen on devices will make full office mobile available to smartphones as opposed now being only on pocketpc phones. so you have today screen and office create view and edit on board when crossbow comes out.

I believe its Chris that you should refer to, not me as I didn't say anything about touchscreens and office. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure you meant this to Chris . . . .

But your reply to him makes no sense to me. . . In this thread You referred to Blackjack pricing and the Treo running versions of WM05. He pointed out that it wasn't a fair comparison because of the Blackjack's inability to edit office/touchscreen, etc. You tell me/him that it is a fair comparison because of an OS that it doesn't even run yet? Sorry if I don't understand, but you did drag me into this . . . .
