That's simply not true. Crossbow just combines PocketPC and Smartphone into one OS. Depending the device, it will allow for various functions - ie. touch screen. This won't be available until mid-2007 at the earliest and who knows when it finds it's way to the Treo or other devices. There are many advantages to touch screen. I think the trend you are referring to is low-cost smartphones that do not utilize a touch screen. With regards to touch vs no-touch, that's a choice for the individual consumer. While I love my Moto Q, I certainly wouldn't mind a "pro" version that features Pocket PC edition. I think WM5 smartphones, and the Q in general, do a great job of utilizing hot-keys as an alertnate to the touch screen. Speakerphone, etc.
Here's a pretty
comprehensive look at Crossbow. And one final note, when has Microsoft delivered an OS on time?
Simply put, touch screen is a premium addition and will be priced as such. Even when Crossbow appears, you'll still pay more for a smartphone that has a touchscreen (or at least I will

).
