Default Palm Treo 750 won't sync with ActiveSync on XP Pro with OL 2003

I have a client with a pretty standard setup. He is using Outlook 2003 (not sure of patch level yet), ActiveSync 4.5, and a Treo 750.

Let me give you a little background. I work on a help desk. I took this ticket today hoping it would be an easy fix. The user had 3 other Treo's that wouldn't sync with his laptop and has had them replaced.

Anyway, I was working with him remotely todsy. When trying to sync with ActiveSync, it would just sit there. I had him disconnect it and I deleted the partnership. I re-set up the partnership, tried to sync, and same issue. He was using ActiveSync 4.2 at this point.

I removed ActiveSync 4.2 and installed ActiveSync 4.5 clean. I tried to sync, same issue. It just sits there and says "Synchronizing". Nothing ever happens.

I read in some other forums that I should have upgraded in the first place to 4.5, not did a clean intsall. I'm not sure why that is true.

Could it be a corrupted Outlook profile? Or perhaps OL 2003 should be at a certain patch level? Again, I'm not sure of the patch level of Outlook. Anyone have any ideas? He wants to sync his calendar, inbox, and contacts.

I don't have much experience with these units. Any help would be appreciated.

I am not sure what's going on either. I have had my 750 since February barnd new on ebay Got a clean synch on hot sync with my 650 then backed up and installed the 750 following the directions as to switching from palm os to windows mobile got a good install first time out with wm5 and active synch 4.2 ( a first for me with as synched right away with no probs) hooray). I dont think removing 4.2 should have had any effects. I installed 4.5 after having probs with dst patch and then that cleared the dst patch problem. You might look up troubleshooting in the user guide at palm.com on the treo 750 support page. I have my user guide at the office printed out but will look online and see if I can find find soemthing and get back to you. I would suspect that he has been upgraded to current outlook 2003 level unlesss he has a copy that for whatever reason did not pass the validation c**** from microsoft. I would not think that has anythiung to do with it either.
