so its just a case of compressing the life out of ringtones....
should changing the location of where pictures are stored affect the camera as i chaned it and tried to take a picture and i was told i hadnt enough memory to do so where 80mbs of the 2gbs was used. or would the formatting of the card have resolved that issue??

The reformat may have resolved your memory card issue. You'll just have to test and see.

As for ringtones, I use an editor and save them as MP3 files with a 30k bitrate in mono. It makes 'em small as heck, but you can't tell a difference over the loudspeaker anyway.

If you need an excellent free sound editor, google "wavepad".

Yeah, it's truly a full function sound editor.

In Wavepad, when you select SaveAs and choose MP3 as the output format, you'll get another dialog that pops up. Set the bitrate to 32 (or whatever you want) and the channels to Mono (since you've only got 1 speaker anyway). That's it.

You can also open up songs from your library and trim out clips for ringtones. Or if you find one you like online, set your sound properties to record from your soundcard instead of microphone. Then while you "preview" the ringtone, you can record it.

Not that I'm advocating copyright infringement. Just pointing out what you COULD do. ;)

I have a few newbie questions, but first I want to thank whoever posted the WavPad converter for ring tones. I converted a few of them and it works great.
    1. With the Treo 750, I have read you can get a 4GB expansion card. I cannot seem to find one here in Hungary. They are all telling me that only 2GB will be stable. True or should I order a 4GB card from the States?
    2. In my sync folder on my desktop, I do not have a Ringtone folder. How can I transfer the ringtones I have already on the phone to the desktop in order to convert them to the mp3 format?
    3. I have an unlocked phone that is not associated with any phone company service or branded. I downloaded Windows Mobile 6 from MS and it was a one time only one per user office. It is sitting on my laptop since I could not get my laptop to sync with the phone. Any suggestions?
This list would have been longer, but the great advice in the different areas have answered other questions already.

    1. With wm6 you should be able to use up to 4GB be sure to format the card.

    2. Not sure check in the user guide or look here in the forum

    3. Are you using the SD card method or the setup wizard method. Chweck the sticky at the top of the 750 forum threads it should be able to walk you through the installation.
