    Default Phantom email account

    Hi,

I recently got a replacement (new) Treo 750, due to a warranty issue. I was able to restore my device from a recent Sprite Backup file.

The problem I've run into is that I have one email account on the Today screen that is not linked to anything. So, the email account is being displayed but nothing happens when I click on it. I can access other accounts (XpressMail, etc) just fine.

The "phantom email account" doesn't show up on Menu->Tools->Options screen, only the non-XpressMail account I added.

Any ideas on how to get rid of this entry.

    Thanks,

    jb

Interesting. There is a similar post in another treo forum about a "phantom" email account appearing after an express mail upgrade? Very puzzling. That person did a soft reset with no change. Havre you tried backing up again and doing a hard reset and checking to see if the phantom account is still there before doing a restore? Yiou might try that and see if the account disappears If it dowes and you then restore and its appears its in your backup somehow!

this is because xpress mail is meant for windows mobile 5 and isn't completely compatible with windows mobile 6. Honestly what i have found to be the best alternative for windows mobile is hotmail. In windows mobile 6, when you use the inbox setup without Xspressmail installed and you setup a hotmail account it automatically installs windows live. The best part is that whenever you send/recieve message it synchronizes your handheld and the server to match, so when you delete messages from ur handheld and you send and recieve it deletes them off the server.. Also push works flawlessly on windows live.
