    Default Problem with Contacts

I just updated to WM6 and restored my data with Sprite Backup. At first I thought I lost my contacts, but I realized that I can see them with Pocket Informant 2007. However, I can't select the contacts, edit them, or call them (I can only SEE their numbers). Does anyone know what's going on?

I am having the same problem and then some. After upgrading I am missing my camera and contacts icons under programs, and I do not have the option to add them to the start menu as usual either. I can access the camera by pulling up pictures first and then selecting camera from there, so I know the software is still there.

i don't know if this helps... but you can try it anyway...

Try deleting the partnership on your compuer and on your device. Then try to sync again. As what i know is that when you install the updater, it will basically erase all the data on your device like a hard reset.

Please inform me if this worked or not...I'm still new to this windows mobile OS

I've got the missing contacts problem too. Did you manage to find a solution?

Well there's your problem. You can't restore a WM5 backup to WM6 and expect it to work. That's like restoring a Windows 95 backup to an XP machine.

Hard Reset to wipe your device clean. Then sync with Outlook to restore your contacts and reinstall all your software. THEN run a fresh WM6 backup.

Also be aware that the version of Sprite backup that comes on the Treo disc with WM5 devices is NOT their latest WM6 compatible backup software. You have to upgrade Sprite to the latest version for it to play nice with WM6.

In my case I only restored the PalmMsgV001 file for my message backup. It shouldn't have affected the contacts as far as I know. No OS files were restored.

There is indeed a newer version of sprite that you can buy. I am using the version that came with the installation disk ie wm5 version. It does not seem to do the automatic backup even if it checked off in sprite setup. It will only do manual backup if requested.

    UPDATE:

I just delved into the sprite again and discovered that i did a manual backup and it lost the setting for automatic backup. Its now reset to do an automatic backup tomorrow afternoon so I'll see if that works and get back with you guys. It may be monday before i can do that as my home computer ip address has been hijacked to a telecom in the Ukraine and I am trying to figured out how to reclaim it and keep them out of the computer its funny but thge only prooblem seems to be I cant access ET from the home computer.

jfa, has it otherwise worked well for you? Just after upgrade to WM6, I tried to do a backup and restore to test it out and had issues. I ended up chucking it once I found out that it wasn't designed for WM6.

I am still using the version from the disk really havent had any problems with it since upgrade other than it wouldnt do automatic backup see previous post hopefully it will work still. If not I'll probably get the free trial on version 6 and see how it does and it that works buy the full version and do a review here and treonauts.com where I am also a regular.
