problems with battery
Hallo,
I purchased unlocked from Vodafone palm treo 750v. It is updated to WM 6 with official update. But the battery dies in 12 hours.
Could it be some problems while unlocking it? Is any chance to repair this problem by myself (for ex. reinstalling WM6 or some other tricks)?
thank you in advance

I have a new 750 (3 months old) and use a BlueTooth head set all the time, mine uses 75% battery over about 12 hours.
I don't connect to data/email either unless I'm on the road and need to check for an important email then I switch it off again.

I can understand you. But I do not use Bluetooth or data connection. Few calls, few sms that is all. There should be some software problems that drain the battery. And I am interested if it is possible to solve by myself as the phone do not have warranty.

With a real real lot of use I can and have drained my 750 by lunchtime ! With average use I only have to charge at night but I can never make it much more than a day. The 750 doesnt have the greatest battery life in general.
When running an IM program like IM+ I can really drain my battery in less than a day. I do a lot of IM thru sms forwarding and txt not running any programs.

Guys you may be leaving a bunch of programs open in the background that are hogging your memory and draining the battery. Remember in WM the x does not close the program it minimizes it and its still running in the background. tap and hol OK and a box will open showing your running programs. Close the ones you dont need. Or get some third party software which actually will close the program(s). Try magic button I think its still free on the ET software downloads.

Nope, everthing not in use is off, I send 3 > 4 Text, make 3 > 4 phone calls in a day but receive about 15 > 20 calls each day of approx 3 minutes each, I consider this to be pretty modest use.
Very rare to use Data, Email etc but do use Bluetooth Headset for about 10 hours each day, never use it to play music, no photos.
Prior to the Treo I used what I consider to be the best mobile I have ever had in 27 years of mobile use, which was a Nokia 6310i which had similar use and battery lasted about 4 days, but lacked features of the Treo that I find nice, my carrier gave me the Treo for nothing so that was the influence to take one, also not having to carry and juggle a diary was a big factor.
Thanks for the input.

If you are getting 10 hours, you are doing well! Are you in an area where the signal may be weak? Maintaining a data connection and other fun things does consume a bit of power. I get 6 hours and consider myself lucky at 30% with my usage - extensive use of HandBase, Excel, FlexMail (2 IMAP accounts), Bluetooth always teething and a "few" phone calls. As for the Nokia, you are comparing a grape to a watermelon.
I tried Magic Button and was not tickled by its magic. I now use QuickMenu, also free and it handles the closing of applications in a much cleaner manner and, anyway, it is worth looking at.

I like the Qwerty K/board and the superior calendar function on the Treo and the ability to SMS calendar appointments straight from the Treo.
I don't use any of the Office stuff and have no extra software on the Treo, so I assume when you say comparing a grape to a watermelon you agree that the Nokia had superior battery life for similar use?
Palm have been aware of critical comment of battery life on the Treo 750 and have ignored the problem.
They have just released the new model 800 that is getting the same complaints about battery life and it has extra battery eating features, go figure.

The grape to a watermelon: the functionality and features are very different. Comparing the 2 does not work.

I have said previously what is in use on my 750.
The 750 screen is larger so would consume more a bit more power
so....I must be missing something here, are you implying that a Text message and a phone call uses more battery power on a Treo 750 than a Nokia 6310i.
The only other thing to chew up the battery is the Qwerty keyboard or 3G in which case Palm should have addressed this instead of saying that whenever we are at a desk to plug the 750 in to keep the battery charged.
I'm sure the design engineer/s, wouldn't buy a SUV with a 10 litre tank and accept Ford saying that each time we drive by a service station to fill it up so the vehicle won't run out of fuel?
