Default remedial question about syncing....humor me.

just got my 750 and it has lots of buttons. I am confused about syncing and what it can do. This is what I think it is............let me know if this is correct.
    • syncing is the ability to type something in your calendar on your home pc or on your 750 and it will show up on the other but only if you have the email function setup on your computer. What else other than calendar stuff can be synced in this way?
    • syncing is also the ability to use a cord to transfer files/photos from pc to pda or vice versa. I have synced files this way and would love to sync calendar items but can't get it to work

To sync with your PC, you must be using MS Outlook 2002 or later.

Also, load the latest version of ActiveSync (currently 4.5).

The first time you plug in your treo, ActiveSync will prompt you to set up a sync relationship with the PC. You basically check all the items you want to sync each time you connect (Email, Tasks, Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Favorites).

Also, once connected to the PC, you can click the "explore" button in activesync and it will pull up an explorer window showing all the files on your Treo. Then you can drag and drop between your device and PC.

If you want to connect to someone else's pc and NOT sync, when activesync prompts you to set up a relationship, just click cancel. Then you're connected in guest mode. It will still let you install software and copy files, but won't attempt to sync with outlook on that pc.

when I plug in my 750 i see the screen pop up on my computer. It just says "connected". I can however transfer files between the two by opening the explore folder. However, I don't see any options that allow me to sync my calendar items. I have outlook 2003 and I do have 4.5 downloaded. What am I missing?

The sync relationship you currently have set up must not include those items.

While connected, I think you can go to Tools>Options on the PC side and adjust what syncs.

Or, just look under File and choose delete device. Then the next time you connect it will prompt you to choose what to sync.
