Are you on 2.23 or 2.27? Whichever it is, you may want to give the other a shot. The only difference between them is a minor tweak to the radio firmware for an issue that on the surface is unrelated to your issue. Just a shot in the dark.

BTW, all Pocket PC's (including the Treo) are NEVER off (only snoozing), unless you pull the battery. All you can turn off is the radio.
I just wanted to let you know that I reinstalled wm6 and everything is working great, exept for Activesync, which is alright (my pc's fault). Thanks so much for your help! PS I still would like to know what version of wm6 you sent me and I installed. I listed what is showing on my phone in my other postings.

go to settings =system -about - phone and it will give you the phone firmware version number as in TREO7502.25 ATT. The number you are giving is for firmware for your windows mobile 5 device. Your update must not have comepletely finished. Fastlerner what are your thoughts?

Hi, I finally got everything to work including my ActiveSync. But both times I downloaded WM6 with the sd card, it did something weird. When the download was complete and it said so (blue bar filled up) the phone locked up. I waited about 10 minutes, with no keys working, I then had to do a soft reset to continue. The phone then went to the green windows screen the to the today screen. After that everything worked well. Did it not finish and download everything? When I figure just what I did to get my activesync working I will let you know, I was trying everything. Thanks everybody!

Been a while since I did an SD update, but I believe you do have to perform the final reboot yourself. Sounds like you're up an running.

Default Service Problems with wm6 upgrade

I have pursued an answer to a problem related to this for some time. My phone usually has excellent reception but on the rare occasion it loses the signal it has a difficult time picking it back up, at least without some help from me. To pick the signal back up all it takes is cycling Phone Off and back On. When cycled it can immediately have full 5 Bar strength. Per previous help I have limited my Services Band Selection to “GSM”, but that has had little effect. I have tried making a call with no reception indicated thinking it was simply an indication problem, but calls immediately failed. This is not a major problem when I need to make a call (all I need to do is cycle the Phone Off and back On), but I stand the chance of missing any calls coming in while the phone has no signal.

I do not believe I had this problem before upgrading to Mobile 6, but at this point I cannot say that definitely. My current Software Version is TREO750-2.25-ATT, Hardware Version is A, Firmware Version 1.54.27.00, and CC-Cap ATT-ATT-042. In this tread there is mention of issues involving connectivity, am I at the optimum Version levels currently available. I used the ATT Site provided upgrade to get to Mobile 6.

I love the design of this phone, but it is hard dealing with this functional issue. If all else fails, can the phone be taken back to its original Mobile 5 installation? If so, how. I would hate to “Go Back” but if that is all I can do,…..

what's your current band selection? Are you running UMTS + GSM?

I have three settings "Auto", GSM, and UMTS. Default setting was Auto, which initially had the issue. Per feed back from earlier forums I changed it to "GSM" which also exhibits the same problems. I did not try "UMTS" yet, but do not know the impact of that choice. Any help would be appreciated. As mentioned I am contemplating reverting back to WM5 at this point. I illustrated my current versions earlier, if they can be verified as the latest/greatest that would be appreciated as well.

UMTS is 3G only. GSM is available everywhere, but UMTS is still being rolled out so you may not have full coverage on that setting (depending on where you live.) Auto will use UMTS when available, and otherwise fall back to GSM.

Some have speculated that it's the auto-toggling between the two bands that causes the radio lockup. Since you have tried locking it to GSM with no better result, I would say that's probably not the issue.

Looks like your on the AT&T 2.25 version. I'll PM you links to the Unbranded 2.27 version if you want to give it a try.

Thanks, I upgraded to the Version supplied. We will see how that goes. Installation was painless, ......but I did loss all saved data on the Treo. Just a warning to whoever follows this string. Not a huge problem, I just need to find some old installation applications again. It's like having a new unit all over again! If this works it will be well worth it.

In the advent that it is a hardware problem, and I am LONG out of any warranty, what units out there compare to the Treo? The form function of this thing is nothing but spectacular. I have had other Pocket PC's, other Phones, but as a combined unit it beats all others hands down.
