Default Service problems with wm6 upgrade

I upgraded my 750 with the unbranded wm6 and I am having a problem with no service when I turn the phone on everyday. (I turn the phone off every night) When I first turn on the phone I get a "no service" message and no signal bars and a blinking amber led. I then have to do a soft reset. I then get service with all bars but the amber light still blinks. The phone then seems to work very well until I turn it off again, Then I have to repeat the process. I don't know what to do. Should I reinstall wm6 (it is still on my mini sd card) or what? wm5 did not do this, it worked fine, I just wanted the upgrade. Help!

Well, if you can't find a fix, you could always just flick the "silent" button on the top of the phone. Just make sure to set the ring options to disable the vibe when ringer is muted so it doesn't buzz and wake you up. The bonus would be that you can actually see any missed calls as well.

Thanks for the reply but what does using the silent button have to do with me having to reset my phone to get service every time I turn it on?

Sorry, should have been more clear.

I'm assuming of course that your reason for turning the radio off is so that you're not disturbed by calls during the night. That being said, a work-around to your problem is to simply leave the phone on, but silence it at night so it doesn't disturb you.

Your are right, that will work. I just don't understand why I didn't have to do the reset with wm5. Would it hurt to reinstall wm6, just to see if it would clear this matter up? It is just that, like my pc, I don't like leaving my electronics on 24/7. Thanks!

It wouldn't hurt to re-install, but there's no guarantee it would help either.

Are you on 2.23 or 2.27? Whichever it is, you may want to give the other a shot. The only difference between them is a minor tweak to the radio firmware for an issue that on the surface is unrelated to your issue. Just a shot in the dark.

BTW, all Pocket PC's (including the Treo) are NEVER off (only snoozing), unless you pull the battery. All you can turn off is the radio.

I have no idea which version I have. You sent it to me a week or so ago. My phone says wm6 Professional CE OS5.2.1239. I think I will reinstall just for the heck of it and see what happens. I will let you know. Thanks!

I tried reinstalling the wm6 and it did not fix my problem, oh well! The people at the AT&T store told me it was a phone problem and was covered under warranty and thought I could get a new replacement and it should come with wm6 on it. I did not tell them I had a used phone that I upgraded. I may take them up on the deal, I don't know. Thanks again for the help!

Mine has: WM6 Professional CE OS 5.2.1239 (build 17746.0.2.4) In another area it says: TREO750-1.13-ATT. Which version do I have?
