    Default Side UP/DOWN button redesignated..??!!??

Don't know how this happened and I can't figure out how to get it back. Whenever I press the Up/Down button on the left side of the Treo750, it shows the battery percent level instead of the volume controls. I can't figure out how to get it back and I don't know how it happened in the first place.

I keep the Treo in my front pants pocket with the face down towards my leg so if anything bumps into me, the screen is protected. I have been noticing that when I take the phone out that I sometimes see random screens such as the clock/alarms settings page. I have the keylock on, but I can't believe that my thigh can activate the buttons and get to these screens and reset any settings.

I am dreading a hard reset after the effort that it took to set up my bluetooth Activesync (even though I wrote everything down the first time and had to re-setup BT - it took 12 hours) and also getting MS Reader to Activate. I've installed the Sprite Backup program, but I don't know if the backup I did when I installed it was before or after the button mix ups.

Search for "fixvolume" on this forum.

    Found it on another forum.

Apparently, the culprit is SPB software. In my case I installed SPB Finance. Otheres have had the problem with SPB Plus. The SPB site has a patch to fix it. Called FixVolume.exe
You copy the file into you r Treo's Windows/startup folder and do a soft reboot. The program asks you to install it. Then I moved it out of that folder onto my SD card in case I need it again. I haven't had any problems since. Although I did uninstall the SPB software - it was a trial anyway.

Cingular had no solution and wanted me to send it back for warranty. I told them that I wanted to try to fix it via forum help instead of sening it back and getting a refurb'd Treo.
