single line messaging?

is there a way to view messages in a single line format? i'm still on wm5 - kinda afraid to upgrade... does wm6 have this functionality?

My email view lists all the messages with sender and subject line.

SMS messaging lists all messages with sender and message (as much as will fit in the 1 line of display).

Don't be afraid to upgrade. I've been on official WM6 rom for almost 2 months and ran a leaked rom before that. Never looked back.
