Default The provider name on your Home screen

Does anyone have service with ATT, formally Cingular? I just noticed the network name on my home screen has changed. Although my phone works well and normally, the network name is bugging me. I don't mind that it now says ATT instead of Cingular, but it's the way it looks:

ATT

Yes, just like that with an underline underneath one T. Anyone know whats up with that? I think it should say AT&T or simply ATT, right?

Thanks for any help.

My phone did the same thing. However it happened after I unlocked the phone with the code that Cingular gave me. No issues with usability.

I get the feeling that the phone is interpreting the & as a formatting character rather than an alpha. I have the same thing on my phone, just started today. Bugs me too. Too many programmers, not enough quality control. Cheese 'n rice.

Are you in a 3G area I still show Cingular and I'm in a 2.5g area maybe when we get 3G I'll be an ATT guy too. Or maybe when our local stores get rebranded we all will be ATT

Default Cingular is AT_T is ...

My phone shows connection to Cingular GPRS, 3G when I tap on the connectivity icon on the Start Bar nest to the Bars (signal strength) icon. But I haven't really been able to confirm whether our area is 3G or just "3G ready" or something. Nonetheless, my SIM says 3G on it next to the gold area, and that's what the Cingular tech rep asked me about right before she checked my account settings and said they were not set for 3G, and right after that is when I got the AT_T on the phone.

For what it's worth. Trying to figure out what they do when and why is like pissing on a campfire - - leaves you wishing you'd just left well enough alone....

well the phone requires a 3g sim card and if you have a square box in the upper tool bar with a u as opposed to a g then you are in a 3g area
