Default transferring contact category from 650 -750

    Greetings intelligent ones,
Can anyone please tell me what i am doing wrong. I am trying to beam all my contacts from my 650 to my 750. (I have a bunch of contacts on my 650) When the beaming starts, i get the message that says, receiving data and then "operation failed" "failed to save. recieved data may be incomplete".
Any ideeers would be appreciated. I do not yet have a sim card in my 750.

First off, if you are talking about IR beaming, forget it. Palm and Windows Mobile use different IR protocols. You would have to purchase 3rd party software to enable cross platform IR beaming compatibility.

There is a MUCH easier way to do this. On your PC, redirect your Hotsync conduit to Outlook (instead of the hotsync databases). Then sync your old 650 to get all your stuff into Outlook.

When you sync your 750 with ActiveSync, it will grab everything in Outlook and you're done.

Ok, things are'nt going as fast as they should be. 1st off, I installed palm desktop on my new laptop (sony vaio xp pro). When I sync my 650, the contacts and calender do not transfer to the desktop however, I do get the pictures.
I click on custom-and the conduit action is set to syn w/ desktop, handheld overwrites desktop and enable. What am I missing here.
Again, none of the calender or contacts trasnfer to the desktop.
2nd problem is I try to sync my 750 to my laptop, (I downloaded activsync) It can't seem to communicate. I tried to find a download for the 750 (ATT) but couldn't find anything on palm.com. to download.
    what am i missing?
    thanks.

You don't want to sync with "desktop" as this is the palm database. Point it to MS Outlook, then do a sync. Everything should populate into Outlook at that point.

Then all you have to do is since your WM device using ActiveSync and it will grab everything from Outlook.

I must be a little sloooow... I right click on the hotsync, custom, change the conduit action to synchranize files. All I can find on my laptop is MS Office outlook. Will that do? None of my contacts from my 650 show up in there. What can I be missing?

Look in the section titled "Migrating Palm Desktop data to Outlook".

Thanks for your help. I did finally get this to sync and I transfered my contacts to my new 750. The big problem I just noticed is that my custom fields from my contacts in the 650 did not carry over from my 750. (this is not good as I had a bunch of notes in my custom fields) Am I missing something, is there a way to get all of the info from my contacts? Thanks, a bunch.

It's entirely possible that the "custom" fields are strictly part of the Palm database, in which case they may not carry over to Outlook. Can't say for sure as I'm not that familiar with the Palm OS. Try checking your HotSync documentation in regards to syncing the 650 with Outlook.

As far as i can see, there isn't a way to transfer my custom fields in my contacts over to the 750. Are there any 3rd parties that would be capable of this task?
    Thanks.
