Default Treo 750 Slower than Palm 650

    Hi

I am thinking of switching Palm 650 to 750. I check out other Window-based pda phones like HTC or O2 where they are using 512 MHz processor and 750 is using 300 MHz processor.

    My question is

    - Do accessing information using treo 750 slower than 650?

    Thank you

    Eddy

It's typically the case that operations are slower with Windows Mobile compared to Garnet (Palm) OS. It would be best for you to test drive the 750 to decide for yourself.

I used a 650 on cingular and now have the 750 on Cingular. I find the speed of the 750 on par or slightly faster than the 650. I have not used or tried out a 680 so I can't compare the 750 and 680. Welcome to ET kokasoft

I wish I could answer the specific question (I can't) but I can offer this:

So far, my Treo 750 (Cingular) is much more stable than my Cingular 8525. I'm a business owner and IT consultant and I probably push it to the limit.

So far, my Treo 750 (Cingular) is much more stable than my Sprint Treo 700p. MUCH more stable.

The speed at which I have clocked my 750 significantly exceeds my Treo 700p, Treo 650, and 8525. I can say I have used or evaluated most of the PDA/smartphones out there and the Treo 750 beats 'em all...and I was a skeptic at first, not wanting to jump on the "first edition" bandwagon.

    Default 8525 / 750

I am with verizon on a 700p and like it a lot. That said I have been doing some overseas travel and cannot deal with the fact that my phone does not work. So, I am thinking of going with Cingular / ATT. I was looking at the 8525 and in reading about it (i have liked my palm 650 and 700 a lot) someone mentioned the keyboard under the phone and no use on the fly typing which I thought was a real good point. That said, any other points on the 750 vs 8525. Or other phone cingular offers (blackjack, etc) I tried the Q on verizon for a weekend and just could not get it to sync. If I can get it to sync at least I could then "learn" the windows mobile system.

There is the Treo 680 if you don't want to depart from Palm OS, though it seems you're willing to switch to Windows Mobile. The one thing to check is whether the battery life of the 8525 is better than the 750, since that is a regular complaint about that Treo.

Hi Eddy, I do have Treo 750. Well, I don't know how fast could Treo 650 be actually but 750 is not so slow! I guess It depends on what you are going to use it for..
One "ignorant" question I have, for everybody, is: How can I turn the whole Treo system off?! I can turn off the phone, as well as the screen, but..how about "closing" the system?
    Is there anybody to reply?
    Thank you

thanks, I am getting a bit confused. the 680 is a gsm "world phone" with the palm os but the 750 is not? so if the 755p makes it to cinngular this would give me a world solution but with exactly what I am used to now right? (i have til sept for my contract to be up) the other thing that intrigued me about some of the other phones (blackberry 8800) was the gps "a la carte", i.e. using the phone as a gps navigator at will (one plan was 5.99 a month for 10 routes). Just seems like the treos are so stale but those that have switched seem to make that part of the reason to stay....ease of use, etc.

in my experience the treo750 with WM5 (unlocked from Cingular) is MUUUUUUUUUUUUCH slower than the treo 680 with the PALM OS. I have several issues: delay in picking up calls, phone not ringing when there is an incoming call, system is slow, system needs to be reset..and others.
