Default Treo goes silent

Recently purchased Treo 750 and love it. I have had it for about one month. About once a week my Treo goes in silent mode. The ringer does not work nor any alerts. If you try to change ringer sounds nothing happens. If you try to listen to the different sounds nothing happens. Has this happened to anyone else?

Welcome to ET. Can't say that it has I have had mine a couple of montsh and its never done that I turn it to silent quite often because I am in and out of court. My problem is that I often forget to turn it off of vibrate and miss a few calls here and there. Check your phone settings and make sure they have not changed to silent either vibrate or no vibrate. If they check out okay try a soft reset.

A soft reset does solve the problem. It's just that it goes silent without notice. I don't realize this until I actually look at the phone. Is it okay to do a soft reset about once a week?

Its okay to do a soft reset whenever you need to it shouldnot be exhibiting that behavior that often. Have you added any third party software? Did the problem start after that softweare was added? If so that may be the cause of the problem.

I have had mine now for about a month, and nothing like that has happened. sometimes if I try to do two things at one go, like cancel a alarm and and someone calls it looses it.
But that is a old MS Mobile issue... multitasking is not their strength!

Do you have voice command activated? If so chances are that's your culprit.
Also, doing a soft reset will do no harm and I recommend doing one on a regular basis just to clean things up.

I have the exact same problem. The phone goes completely silent, and I miss alerts and calls. The soft reset does fix it. But that is maddeningly similar to restarting Windows to fix all ills. There's got to be a better solution.

Default Treo 750 goes silent

I have had my Treo 750 for about 1.5 wks, I experienced the same problem, yesterday. I was told by Cingular that they are often sending upgrades to the phone, and maybe mine was not possibly upgraded for this glitch. Well I was told to power off my phone so that an upgrade could be sent to my phone. Let's see how long this will last.

That's bologni (spelling?).
The only upgrade you would ever get is when Palm releases one and you have to apply it yourself.
