Truth About WM6 for TREO 750 - Treo Forums

Before you read my rant, i have the so called leaked windows mobile 6 firmware for the cingular 750. it is firmware version 1.47.25.00 and it has run fine for the entire 2 months ive had it one here to date. drop me an e-mail, or a message on here and i'll work with anyone to see how i can get it to them. SO Anyway.......

If you expecting this upgrade from palm soon, palm does have it and this is plainly obvious because it is out for every other carrier who has the 750 aswell as other devices. Palm just will not divulge it because Cingular is putting off. Now this thread isn't to slander Cingular or Apple but this is happening because of the release of the OH SO Crappy iPhone. Cingular didnt want to release this high dollar piece of crap and than invest in it and than put out the windows mobile upgrade because the iPhone isn't capable of the new features in windows mobile 6 such as HSPDA "i believe it is called". Just think you as a CEO of a cell phone company invest billions in apple's iPhone just prior to the release of some new windows technology, would you want to do anything to jeperodize sales of the the iPhone. Lets face it, everyone is blowing up palms support site to no evail and I'm sick of pulling the palm site up every day hoping it is on there. I can't believe Cingular goofed by investing in the iPhone because it costs to much and they are having to screw the other customers who have a TREO750 and watch every other carrier release it. I know atleast 6 people who have had to take thier shiney new iPhones back for replacements several times because they are so finicky and sensitive. It's nothing but an iPod that makes phone calls. This should be evident since the new iPod touch looks and acts just like the iPhone. The iPhone is yet another attempt by steve jobs to chisel money out of the average consumer. Do you notice how every year they come out with just a little bit better than the one before. I think they are on revision 7 of the nano...lol So anyway, Im moving soon to an area that has tMobile and plan to switch.......

I'm not so sure I agree, considering the BlackJack supports 3G. The Treo 750 is a business class phone, so offering an upgrade doesn't necessarily impact the iPhone consumer. Those purchasing iPhones are well aware of EDGE and the lack of 3G.

Palm's history of updates doesn't provide me a sense they have it "ready to go". I also remember hearing that GOOD's lack of compatibility with WM 6 was the issue. Motorola, who now owns GOOD, is expected to ship the Moto Q 9 (being dubbed Moto Q Global). It'll be interesting to see if that ships with GOOD. If so, then I see no reason why Palm cannot get this upgrade out the door.

I'll ask Palm next week.

seems crazy that palm has WM6 for every other 750 around the world, and not to mention that there is a leaked version, and to say they don't having knowing all that seem ludicris. As far as the iphone is concerned well thin of it this way,, this day and age was sells is high numbers, speed, more features.. the old more bigger better adage. Anyhow cingular may loose sells on the iphone is people bought the treo because it was so much more blazingly fast online.

As a soon to be owner of a Treo 750 - AT&T, I would be interested to see and official WM6 from Palm. Considering the fact, as jhowle mentioned, that all other carriers have WM6 upgrades, I hope Palm can make it happen for AT&T U.S. users.
