Default Upgrade? 700p or new 750?

I currently own a Treo 650 with Cingular Wireless and looking to upgrade to 700p or 750 for wife and I both. I need fast internet access, which I heard Verizon has broadband like speeds. Which device offers better speeds?

I also use a Real Estate software designed for Palm OS only. Can I use palm software on the 750? Or, is that just some Palm applications?

Is there a new Palm OS Treo coming to market soon? If so, when can we expect it? Is there an advantage to being a windows user or a palm user? Is the 680 even worth the purchase for a seasoned treo user?

I searhed the forums to see if these questions had been answered ,with no luck. So, please forgive me if it has been repeated.

Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I remember reading about software thats recently come out that lets you run palm os software on WM5 machines cant remember the name of it though. I will keep thinking and looking. Nothing in the works in the rumor mills about a palm device other than the 680 branching out to cdma and other gsm in near future.

The 750 offers Cingular's new high speed data. If its not available in your area, it falls back to the Edge package. If you wish to stay with Palm OS, Sprint/Verizon would be the better choice for high speed data. My opinion is that Sprint is more affordable, but it really comes down to carrier service in your area. Sprint won't save you any money if it rarely works in the areas you are in . . . .

My advice is, if you depend on this Palm software to do your job, you might only consider Palm over Windows mobile devices.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both OS'es. WiFi ability goes to WM, for sure! Both are good in some respects/bad in others. The trick is figuring which OS is right for you . . . . There is nothing rumored anytime soon as far as new Palm Devices . . WM or Palm OS . .

As far as the 680, I upgraded from the 650! To me, it was well worth the upgrade is every aspect except Battery life! There are some changes to the user interface around phone apps/photos/etc, and the extra memory has made it very nice . ..

the 750 right now has UMTS which is a slower high speed with a free supposedly upgrade within the next few months again supposedly to the faster HSDPA. If you dont have WM5 software available for use that fits the bill as well as the palm software you are better off sticking with palmOS . Someone is or has come out with an extended battery for the 680 with a new cover but it will make the device thicker so it may be back to thickness of the 650.

I think it is "coming out" . . . . I have been scouring the net searching for an extended battery and have turned up nothing . . I think the battery life is tolerable if you aren't using a lot of data. For me, with Chatter email and always connected, its terrible! But jfa112851 makes a valid point . . If it adds a lot of bulk, you lose the "trimmer, slimmer, lighter" appeal of the 680, and basically have a 650 with a tad more memory . .
