Upgrading To Wm6..help TREO 750
Any help would be great on this, I have unlocked Treo 750 from cingular, I downloaded the updater from palm with my serial number, and started the update, according to the final screen there was an error during installation, it wanted to start all over again and I could not stay and finish. I disconnected the phone from the pc, it had the screen on it as if it was new to setup, do the touch screen thing, set the time and date etc.
I did all that and the phone seemed to be working fine. I have been using it for a week now and no problems. the only glitch I am having is the bluetooth keeps dropping off, not connecting for my Motorola earpiece. it is hit and miss.
so, I decided that when I had some time I would start the update again and hope that it would overwrite everything, or delete it and then start a entire new install again. surprise, :angry:it started but then message said update was not needed and that was it.
any advice on this, I would like to do a total new install again, just thinking there is something that did not complete during the first install.
thanks in advance for any suggestions.
ps. I have not tried a hard reset, as I was told since this is an unlocked phone, I may not get it started again.

Unlocked is unlocked. Hard resets and software upgrades will not change that, so no worries there. Give it a hard reset and see if it clears.
If you want to reinstall, you'll need to modify your installer files as it's sensing your software version and doesn't see the need to install.
To do that, first open the installer. Then search for this file "payloads.xml". When you start the installer it unpacks all the files into a temp folder that a standard search won't find, so you'll probably need to go into the advanced find options and check the box to search in system folders.
Open the file in Notepad. You'll see it's pretty simple with only a few parameters. You'll need to change the upper revision range to something higher than what you have installed on your device (make it 2.28).
Close the file and continue with the install process.
Or you could load it by using an SD card and the built in bootloader. For full instructions on all that, check my post here:
