I have been a long time lover of my Treo 600 and 650. I have tried several WM phones, and the operation is simply not as easy or intuitive as Palm. I have always returned the WM phones to Cingular to go back to my Palm.

Until this week...

I bought a 680 three weeks ago because my 650 was just plain worn out. I like the 680, but Palm has been slow to make any improvements, and trying to use it with my Vista PC was simply impossible - they (Palm) have a beta Hotsync, but still no luck. The 680/Bluetooth was spotty. It was simply not the solid phone I had been used to.

So I traded it for a 750. So far, it still isn't as intuitive and easy to use as a phone, but overall it is a better tool. It does sync with Vista (although I still can't tame the BT sync), and it is a better PDA.

Just one guy's opinion...

Rockyp or anyone??????????????
Thanks for the info/option, so the only treo that will work with vista is the 750, no other series will work?
Anyways what is a beta Hotsync and what phone did u prefer between
the 650 andthe 680?
Now does the 750 come with winmob or palm os?
Also what is so great/differant about the 750 that 650 doesn't have?
What iam saying, is it worth buyin the 750 for something or should i stay with the 650,
if iam happy with the 650 right now?

thanks to all
info/option helps me out alot/

In my experience (and it seems that many folks have different levels of success), the Palm OS phones do not work well with Vista. I am a computer tech professional, so I don't think it is a matter of ignorance. Hotsync is the Palm program that synchronizes the Treo with your contacts, calendar, etc. on your PC. It is now August, Vista has been around in some form or another for at least a year, and Palm is just now beta testing their version of Palm Desktop and Hotsync... They are very slow to keep up.

650 to 680? There are too few improvements (in my opinion) to make that move - I did because I just plain wore the 650 out.

The 750 is Windows Mobile 5 (soon to be WM 6). It is supposedly a worthwhile upgrade to address some of the problems of WM5 (see other threads in these groups).

If it were me, I'd stick with the 650 as long as it works. Palm is just now beta testing their next generation Treo (or whatever they will call it). If I could have, I would have waited...

Default Palm OS vs WM OS

Treo 650 and 680 are PALM OS devices. The Treo 750 is a WinCE or WM device.

I find the Palm OS easier to use but you have to use the pen more. The WM device is probably more functional but more complicated. The WM device also alows complete use without pulling out the pointer pen.

One thing that I find a real bummer is that the Palm OS devices have great picture display. The WM dvice is absolutely second rate in that respect. On display the WM device tries to fit the picture in the space provided and changes size of the pic causing distortion.

The WM device appears to be dimmer as well.
