Wifi issues with 750 - Treo Forums

I just recieved my 750 a couple of days ago and also the Spectec wifi card. I had no problem setting up my email accounts and downloading them to the device. My problem is with actually using IE, it will not connect. First it says, connecting then locating, then it just seems to meditate, then I get this message: "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later." So I close out of IE and check my email and it down loads it via the wifi connection. Not sure what the problem may be. I am also using WM 6. Hopefully you can give me some suggestions.

I'm assuming you mean that IE won't connect via Wifi, while everything else does. I'm going to further guess that you're on the AT&T network.

Sounds like you need to disable the AT&T proxy. Be default, IE will route it's surfing connections through the proxy, which enables you to hit MediaNet. (It can also slow down your other surfing slightly.)

If you're device is running an AT&T rom, then use the ProxyManger application to disable and enable the proxy for IE. If you're running an unbranded (or other branded rom), then you'll have to disable it another way.

The easiest would be to grab a copy of the proxy manager program. If you follow the link to "software picks" in my signature, you'll find a copy for download.

If I was incorrect and you're NOT on AT&T service, then provide us some more details and we'll do our best to help.

Actually, I have an unlocked and unbranded phone, what additional information would you like?

Gotcha. The unbranded rom does not have the AT&T Proxy Manager app, so assuming that you ARE on AT&T service, you'll need to use alternative methods to disable the proxy, such as the app I suggested. (you can also do a regedit, but the app does it for you with a couple clicks)

If you're NOT on AT&T service, let us know and perhaps we can provide another solution.
