Wireless on Treo 750
I would like to connect my Treo 750 to a wireless house network to access internet emails without going through the operator. Is there anyone who had done this before? I read about the mini sd Wifi card from spectec and since I don't have any experience with that, I would like to know it it is good, reliable and worth the money. What about the drivers and software for WM5? Are they stable and reliable? Does it work with all the wireless signals?
Thanks for helping.

you set ur active sync to sync via bluetooth, once your sync in this manner enable the internet access feature of active sync... this actaually works pretty good within a room or two

I used to be a blckberry user. Now that i have a treo i see what i was missing.

wi-fi on 750
Hi,
I have the spectec mini sd wifi card and it works great for me. HOWEVER, there is something you should know (in my experience) that was not readily available. You have two choices: If you plan to use the IE browser you will need to do some mods to the registry. Here is the details:
http://www.gadgetech.info/treo/hacks/disableproxy/
However, that involves making changes in the registry of the 750 to disable the cingular proxy (I could not get wi-fi to work otherwise - as noted in the above web page). But, (and better in my view) is just use a different browser when you are using the Spectec wi-fi card. I use 2 different browers (both free): mini-opera and minimo. Both work well and are not hard-wired to the cingular proxy as the IE browswer is done. So, you can download the .cab files and use them to toggle the proxy off and on and then use IE browser or use a different browser. Both ways works well for me.

the clumsy spectec card
I have used treo 750 for about 3 months. The mini SD wifi card (not really mini here ; as its buttock jut out from the Sd card slot) works wonders and the connection on wifi is no different from that on my laptop.
But the most irritating part of it is ; its buttock jut-out from the Sd-card slot and do not fit in nicely as the SD-memory card
At time i felt like "cutting" away the "bottom part" of the spectec card ; but i guess ; then ; it is no different from throwing that spectec card into the dustbin ; in fact easily if just take it out and throw it away.
Nayone got any idea ; can it be done ? ; or is there any shorter wifi card or even better ; ant shorter wifi card+memory card so that even "change" of memory and wifi is not necessary at all.
Well ; i am surprise that such wifi still be manufactured in this "clumsy manner" or maybe no choice ; i do not know. But at least now ; i have no choice but to use the spectec wifi card
