650 to 755p Upgrade Issue: SMS/MMS won't sync

My Treo 650 died (again) and I had to move to 755p. Everything sync'd up beautifully except the SMS and MMS messages. It looks like somewhere between 650 and 755p the two were combined to become "Messaging". that's great, except how do I get the SMS and MMS .PDB files to work on my new phone? I know how to get them to come over, I just don't know how to get the 755p to recognize them and pull them into my Inbox. I was on the phone with Palm for over an hour and they couldn't figure out. Does anyone have any experience with this?

My Treo 650 also died (constant resetting) and I'm considering upgrading to a 755 and I'd appreciate any advice you may have. I've read various feedbacks from people complaining about it, especially from those who had a 700. Any regrets?
I've considered an iPhone replacement, but found that friends' iPhones, while great for audio-visual matters, were shockingly clumsy, slow and and inefficient with word-based needs: sms, notes, diary and documents, not to mention not supporting Palm software I used constantly. Many friends regret buying iPhones.
