Default 755P mini review

Okay since I was still within my 30 days of return-ability, I upgraded my 700p to the 755P at Sprint yesterday.

It was definitely worth the extra $30. I actually like it much more than I thought I would.

Remember all of my opinions are from only spending about two weeks with the 700P and these are my first Treo's. I am not a Treo expert. I am a PDA one though ;)

I love the finish/coating on it.

The blue is actually much nicer than the photos show. In a lot of photos it looks like a lighter blue than it is. It still looks professional. It is a dark deep blue.

The keyboard is defiantly improved. I only had the 700 for two weeks but noticed it right away. These keys seem to stick out more for typing. I also like the reverse of the 700P with the num keys being white now with the other qwerty keys being blue. I think the 600 series ones were like this.

It does feel smaller and more compact. I think the speaker phone is louder as well which seemed low on the 700P.

I kind of liked the antenna on the 700P, I thought it gave it character. I have to admit though, it is nicer without it after all.

The phone call quality does seem a bit better but I did not make tons of calls on the 700p to really tell.

Now to some complaints. What dumb ass decided to put the IR port on the right side of it???? This is insanely stupid. This makes it near impossible to use Novi remote like applications. The only thing on the top now is the ringer/silent switch.

Also I am unsure using a micro SD really gains us anything (I always believed pain with gain is okay) but with that said why put it in a door on the side? I am unsure of this decision.

If you won't be taking it out often it will be fine. If you are like me and remove your cards a lot, this is going to be annoying. I liked just putting files on an SD card and using McFile instead of the hot sync.

It also is kind of a pain to insert the mSD card with the little door hanging there. It gets in the way.

I am not a fan of the included stylus. At first it was cool looking with the metal at the end but they used cheap plastic for the rest of it and guess what, it bends! It is flimsy and I will be replacing this ASAP. The 700P one does not fit, sorry guys.

Another thing I do not like is there is no reset button so you have to remove the battery to reset it. This is lame, sorry but it is.

I am also unsure of the batter cover. It is not bad if you use two hands to remove it but it seems they could have made this a bit better, especially since the battery is now defaulted to 1600ma instead of 1800ma like the 700P. So this means if you have a spare battery it will be just a bit of a pain to replace on the fly. This is very subjective though so it may be fine for you.

Some cell phones are better than others with this so it is not a total loss ;)

All in all I really think it is an upgrade. not a huge one mind you, but one none the less.

I say if you have the 700p stick with it unless you just really want to upgrade for the small features.

If you have the 600 series and are hungry for something just a bit new, I would say go for it as you intend to upgrade anyway.

I am checking it out myself... so what other significant improvement or changes have you noticed?

Hey at least you have a 1600 ma battery the 750 is even lower ma and the 755 battery and the 750 battery are NOT interchangeable. What's up with that?

One thing for sure I'm not happy about is the fact that you can not turn off the screen to save batt. life while using Pocket Tunes. WTF is up with that. It won't even "turn off screen if unactive for 30 sec."

I guess time to find a new mp3 or total media player... any suggsetions?

Did you use the DUN feature? If so, how was it? If not, please give it a shot and post your experience. Thx.
