audio alert for incoming email

Do you have to have a push email service such as chattermail, to get an audio alert when there is email... Or can you set it up with the device? I've tried almost everything I could think to do...

when new email arrives.

In the account you want, press Menu

Check the Alert me of new mail box.

To receive alerts of successful Auto
Sync retrievals only, uncheck the

Alert me of failures

box. Leave the
box checked if you want to receive
alerts for both successful and failed

Auto Sync retrievals.

Select the Alert Sound pick list, and
then select a sound. The smartphone
plays a brief demo of the sound.

5 Select OK.

I've been using the sprint mobile email application... which I can set up my yahoo, gmail, and sprint mail there. However, it doesn't seem to allow me to have it alert me, with anything other than vibrate

Sorry, not familiar with that app. Won't VersaMail allow receipt of all your accounts? Not trying to sell Versamail, but I am a big believer in using what is available and since it is free.....

When I had the 650 I did have corporate email and an AOL account as well as mail from my personal site come through VersaMail and it worked pretty well.
