battery time
HELLO EVERYONE THERE;
Im new to this site and have been palm user for long long time starting with palm III them palm v after those treo 650 and now 755p but to be honest with you guys this one love battery juice it will not go full 24 hrs. Is the next battery level like 1700mah the way to go or what do you guys recomend.

I can go about 24 hours before I have to charge it up.. However, keep in mind these things love to be plugged in. I always have the charger right there... So there are times it's plugged in all day. I do let it die from time to time...
All Avatar photos taken from the cab of a moving Freightliner Century Classic, my office if you will. Enjoy!

I have never gotten anything close to 24 hours. So many obstacles are in the way such as phone calls, data usage, plain ol' usage of the device itself, signal strength, et cetera.
An extended battery helps a lot. I have an extended battery in my Centro and I can go about 8 hours before it starts getting seriously hungry. As a result and as mentioned above, mine is fed throughout the day. Your usage means the battery life will vary. The batteries used in these devices DO NOT like to be allowed to die and battery life will suffer - feeding makes them happy, starvation kills 'em (DO NOT read politics into this!!!!!).

MIne seems to last about the same as the old 650. I do find myself playing more games which seem to run the battery down .
Have you set your new phone to connect or update to the web? email? Do you use bluetooth? Is it on? How about your power saving settings?
You have probably checked this stuff but a new battery might not be the answer but an extra one sounds interesting....

I'm using the 1600mAh batteries. I do have my email program (Snappermail) set on auto download but it is also set to disconnect the radio after downloads. I also keep the bluetooth running most of the time. As for power saving settings, I have the backlight set to a low setting.
Have I forgotton or overlooked anything?
Thanks for any tips.

not sure how snappermail works but you might disable for a while or cut back on the times it is checking your mail. I would think that it is checking your mail every few minutes you are staying connected pretty much all the time.

Hi:
As it is with almost any smartphone, the devil is in the details. You might have Snappermail set to disconnect after download, but how often is it set to poll for new mail? You may have better battery life by increasing the time between connections to look for mail to download.
You indicated your Bluetooth is running most of the time and this is a drain. Do you keep it running for a specific reason or need? If not, shut it off until you need it and you will probably see better battery life.
Finally, a weak signal area will always shorten battery life because the phone will always be searching for a signal that may not be there. Not much you can do about that, but good to keep in mind.

Sorry, I should have been more specific.
I have it set to grab my mail every 30 minutes, then I have it set to cut off the radio. I suppose I could do it manually for a while to evaluate it.
I do notice that after web surfing, the radio stays on for awhile. With the 650, you were able to click the radio icon in the upper right part of the screen to disable it. Can't do it with the 755p, (or can you?)
I have not found a way yet to manually turn off the radio other than to use the disable function in Snappermail.

I guess I cannot explain why I keep the bluetooth running. I never know when a call is coming in (not that often) and I'll need the earpiece.
I suppose I could turn it off and see how that improves things, however, I am still mystified why the 755p battery life is not as good as the 650.
Also, you may be on to something about the signal theory. I work on the 16th floor of a building and I am constantly moving about. The signal (Sprint) is constantly going in and out up there, but pretty steady on the 10th floor and below. It is always roaming and searching so you may be right. I never considered that to be a power drain which explains why I have more power on some days, and less on others.
Thanks a lot!
