Brand New Palm Wont Sync

Hi Everyone
Im totally new at this...but I downloaded a dictionary application to my desktop, and then I plugged the USB into the computer (with hotsync manager on) to sync everything again. When I press the sync button, though, nothing happens. it won't syn at all. I've reloaded the software, tried it on another computer, nothing's working, and the frigin phone is 7 days old.
Am i missing something??? help!!!!!!!

I was, yah.....but the application is only on my desktop......? Would that still affect my palm even before I linked them up?

So I deleted the dictionary program (it wasn't in the add/remove list, though, in the control panel..it was just saved on my desk top); I know this is a moronic question, but when I sync the palm, exactly WHAT is being transferred? Like, everything on my desktop? Everything on my pc? All I wanted was the contacts I saved to Microsoft Office from my blackberry, and then the dictionary application. I don't want media player, itunes, any of my word documents.......which begs the question, if I did, how do I specify what I do want on there?
Seems I'm too retarded for a palm pilot.

First things first. When you plug in the treo to the usb does it start to charge (red Light)?? If it does the cable is good. I do not use palm desktop anymore so I do not have the steps probably in order but If you click on the hot sync icon on the task bar you should have some options. When my treo had problems being found it was because the virtual com port number that was setup in my control panel did not match the com port in the hot sync manager icon. Once they matched they would sync.

What actually syncs...depends on your settings in palm desktop. Open the palm program and at the top I believe is hot sync manager click on that and maybe custom or conduits. Once you find the right page or form you can change what syncs . If you change the settings besure to check to make it your default setting or it changes back to the default it was before your last sync..
