| Cant Hear Ringtones Hi -
I loaded a couple of MP3 clips that play fine on my PC, by moving them to SD card.
I then downloaded both miniTones and MusicTones (which are free) and both give me the same result.
The MP3 file appears in the list of possible ringtones, but when selected, all I get is silence. The Treo standard tones sound fine, but anything I import doesnt seem to work.
Thoughts on how to get this to work? |

| are you using the entire mp3? In music tones you havev to crop it to about 30 seconds or so, in order for it to work...
If that isn't the problem... I can't say I'd know what to do... Do the MP3 files show up in ptunes?

Thoughts on how to get this to work? | I use Minitones and when you open it, does it show the .mp3 clips you put on your card? Did you choose the one you want to use and trim it to 30 seconds? Then you click ADD and minitones will put the ringer into your ringtone folder, and the tone will show up in main memory. Then you can find it in your Sounds folder and choose it as a ringer.

my MP3s are only about 12 seconds long and they show up in minitones and in Sounds folder when I import them. They also play in pTunes fine. They just dont play when they are imported as a ringtone.
I have Verizon Wireless - does anyone know if they are preventing the phone from using custom ringtones? |

| I think verizon will not let you install ringtones. You may be able to buy them from verizon

| Well now, I have a friend who owns a Verizon treo 650 and I beamed her 3 of the ringtones that I made with Minitones (I beamed them from the file in RAM) and she is able to assign them only to Known or Unknown callers. But Verizon does not allow you to assign special ringers to favorite contacts, like Sprint does.

| I wonder why a carrier will restrict features of a device.....Our they worried of viruses or resets......I am not thrilled with sprint but they seem to beat everyone else in my area.

| Because they can?
Maybe they are also fearful they won't sell as many ringtones?
But then again, I am a cynic!!!

| Do you have both apps, or just one or the other?
I would delete minitones and go with just musictones... as that's what I've been using, and I've had no problems with it. Matter of fact works like a charm.

As a matter of fact, so does Minitones
