Default Getting Messages Database on my computer without HotSync?

My Treo 755 and computer refuse to sync. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Palm Desktop and HotSync, and I can't figure it out because the phone does charge via the USB connector...it just can't find the connection to sync.

My problem is that messages database.pdb is huge and almost using all my memory, but I do not want to lose it. I want the messages. So is there a way to e-mail the file to my computer or otherwise transfer it somewhere else, like to my FTP space, so that I can access it?

I tried to send it but it said it was locked.

I tried to go into email and attach it, but it is not in my list of databases that I can attach to an e-mail, unless it's named something else?

Please help. I had all of my important texts saved to files in memos, and then today all my memos were gone. I am hoping to get this content back.

And I do not have a memory card for the phone. I can buy one if that is the only way I am going to get this file moved.

Hello and welcome. First off buy a mini-SD card, at least 2GB (I suggest a 4GB) and install in the phone. It may ask you if you want to format the card after installing, click yes and the phone will format the card.

Now download the free program FileZ: http://software.everythingtreo.com/p...d=6011&n=FileZ which will allow you to view and manipulate the files on the device and the storage card. This gets installed on the phone's internal memory (not the card) Open up FileZ and find the messages database.pdb and move it to the storage card. then do a hotsync and you can then check on your computer to be sure that it synced the messages database onto your computer in your Palm folder. Then you can delete the database if you like since it is safe on your computer. You will need to move it back onto your Palm's storage card to view it though.

Palm's won't hotsync if there are large databases to sync, it times out the hotsync process.

You can also check out this free app called Treodesktop that imports phone info (calls and SMS) onto your PC in READABLE FORMAT. If you can get your messages_database.pdb to import using this you can then delete it on your phone.

EDIT: I just downloaded this to try it and it is pretty cool but it finds your messages_database from hotsyncs you have already performed and installs them into this program. So you have to be able to hotsync to use this program. I suggest getting a card, move your database over to the card, then do a hotsync. But I think you will like this treodesktop program.
