    Default Help with gmail

I know that there is alot of posts with this topic, but I searched and couldn't find my answer.

I just got a 755p off ebay and really like it. Having had a 600 and then switching to a moto q, I needed to get back to a treo.

I had a yahoo basic email setup with my q and my phone would check for email every 30 min. Now i got the treo, setup my gmail account (since yahoo isn't supported in versamail) and am off and running. Now, I looked into snappermail and chattermail, but is there anything that is free that can stay connected or give me checks every so often? I know that I can just go into the email and hit the get button, but I wanted to know if there was anything else?

    Thanks!

How long does it take for gmail to take? I am not getting any emails sent to my treo unless I manually hit the "get" button. Is there a way that it can check every hour? I had checked pop and imap on my gmail account so I don't know what's going on.

I double checked the incoming and outgoing settings, as per the gmail website. I have sent test email from other accounts and still nothing.

I would think you need to set up mail to check for mail every so often. I don't believe you can push mail to the mail program unless you are connected all the time. (battery drain) There should be a setting in versamail/mail that will check your mail on a set schedule.

There is no free application that does push. You can do psuedo push, but no push. ChatterEmail and Snapper - both good applications, though ChatterEmail is by far the better application. As for push with ChatterEmail, I had no problem at all with it with about 6 hours of good usage.

I also recommend ChatterEmail particularly with gmail. Depending on my daily situation, sometimes I use Push mode and sometimes I have it fetch every 10 minutes. With Push mode I would have about 50% battery left at end of day; with every 10 minute fetch I have over 70% battery left. Neither one is bad.

I'm glad I read ur thread b/c I tried to use my yahoo account but it wouldn't go thru. I guess I'll have to set up a gmail account.

I noticed that too that there is no "alert". I have to connect to versamail to get my email & hit "get" as well. I swear these phones are soooo complicated & unorganized!
