I cant sync. help please! - Treo Forums

I've been trying to Hotsync my treo during these two last days but for some reason it doesnt work. It was working fine when I first got it two weeks ago but now when I connect the USB cable to both the phone and the computer and then press the button in the cable it doesnt do anything. When I plug the cradle cable to the phone the computer detects it but when I press the button nothing happens, It doesnt give me any messege at all.
What do you guys thing it could be?

I've had experieced problems with the contacts getting dirty on the phone and it would do the same thing. You can try to use a toothpick to gently scrape the contacts on the phone, it might remedy the problem. It has helped me in past experiences. The contacts do get"coated" with dirt and lint and... welll all sorts of stuff depending on if you have a case and what type and if you keep it in your pocket all day.... Why dont they make a small removable cover for the usb port on these phones? i had the same problem with my 650.

and what operating system on the desktop?

Do you also have Bluetooth on the desktop?

On a couple Palm PDAs, I've had trouble with the button sticking or breaking on the cable or cradle. In both cases, I was able to hotsync by clicking on the icon on the hotsync application on the PDA itself.

Try bypassing the button, and just use the on-board application on your Treo to initiate a hotsync; might help.

seems to be working now. i just scraped the contacts on the phone with a toothpick!

Please remember when you sync your 755p that you MUST use the disc that comes with the phone. The older versions of the Palm Desktop are not compatible with the 755P. Hopefully soon Palm.com will be releasing a new version of PD that is compatible with the 755p.

My 755 wont sync when I plug in the USB. I tried cleaning the contacts and that didnt help. The battery will charge when it is connected, but no sync. I have tried all of the above suggestions. Does anyone have any other tips?

I have had problems with sync when ever the side buttons do not work and I have to take the battery out and reset the phone. If the side button is not adjusting the volume, Take the battery out and put it back in. Then sync. It worked for me.
