Default Instant Messenger not working??

Did anyone else get prompted to download a new Instant Messenger update today? Did yours work successfully? Both my wife and I downloaded it and now none of the three IM programs (Yahoo, MSN, AOL) will connect. Sprint said that the program did not install correctly and we need to perform a hard reset and do it again.

- What will a hard reset delete? Will all my programs (that I paid for) be gone?

- The phone tech said to take it to a Sprint store to do this. Will they be able to back up and restore all the data there for me?

Default Same issue!!

I got prompted to upgrade my chat client and now it won't log in! I even did a hard reset by removing the battery, and it still did not work. Finally, I tried to redownload the new client, and still nothing!!

Is there anyway to restore the phone to the original client?

OK here's what I did. I first did a backup of all the programs (I used a program called Mobile Backup, free 10-day trial) to my SD card. I then did a hard reset. Everthing was wiped clean. Then, with the Treo wiped, run the IM program, and it will prompt you to download the program again. Download, and make sure the program runs. Then restore your programs, but you must do a selective restore, so you don't restore the corrupted IM program.

How does one perform a hard reset on the Treo 755?

I believe you just simultaneously press and hold the power button while removing the battery. If you go to "My Treo" - to the support section, you can find instructions on how to perform the various resets on the treo.

I'm wondering - I don't suppose there is any other way to resolve this outside of a hard reset??
