Default Insurance through Sprint

I bought a new Treo and wanted to get opinions on adding the insurance option through Sprint?
Do you have it?

Thanks,
Rick

You for sure want to put insurance on your phone. By all means put insurance on your phone. PLEASE PUT INSURANCE ON YOUR PHONE!!!!!

Now that I have gotten that out of my system let me calm down a bit.

Any time you purchase a high end phone, particularly a high end phone like a treo. Insure it.

Reason being a $50 deductible is much more desireable than a cost of a totally new phone. You do run the risk of getting a refurbished phone but i would rather do that than be soaked for the cost of a new phone.

Just my 2 cents worth for what it's worth.

I have had exceptionally good experience with the insurance.

I had this service & repair (immediate service or replacement with scheduled appointment at local Sprint store) plus loss & theft & damage (3-day delivery by air) from 11/03 to 5/07 on a Sprint Treo 600.

Now I have the same coverage at $7/mo on a 755p. Loss/theft/damage covers up to 3 replacements in any 12 month period. Also, as I read the contract, my Novatel USB modem ($249.99 list) is also fully covered, conditioned only on continuation of Sprint's mobile broadband (EVDO rev A) service.

I had one manufacturer's warranty replacement (speaker failed) on the 600. Then I had 4 in-store immediate replacements, including activation (except for one 3-day air replacement at $50 for a screen I broke, activated with phone support), at no charge.

I have only good feelings about the insurance. No worries.

Default Sprint or Best Buy insurance

I just purchased a 755P/Sprint from Best Buy. They offer insureance at the same price but without the 50$ deductable and 3 per year.

Does anyone have experience with the Best Buy Insurance? Is it as good as what has been described about the Sprint insurance?

Get the best sprint insurance available (most expensive). This way if you ever have any issus with your phone they will not question you and there will be no deductable.

Best Buy insurance is fine - but you have to realize a few things. 1, if ANYTHING happens to the phone (cracked screen, keys stop working, microphone blows out) Best Buy will REPLACE the ENTIRE device (make no mistake, with a reconditioned phone just like Sprint would) 99.9% of the time by a MAIL-IN process that will take 3-5 business days. This is exactly like the Sprint INSURANCE portion of the plan that covers lost/stolen/liquid damage/fire damage/board level damage with a $50 deductible. The downside? If you crack your screen you have to wait a week to get a replacement. If you have Sprint's TEP, you bring it to a service center and as long as they can harvest a part, it can be fixed in less than half an hour (they might keep it longer if they are backed up however). If you have Best Buy's plan and want to get it fixed Sprint will charge you $55 at a repair center.

I pay for Sprint's insurance plan's on both of my phones, and I'm an employee. That must tell you something about it.

With any phone you get anymore, I'd suggest the insurance... They have gone up in price so much, unless you have a few hundie, that you can drop on a phone, when it takes a dump...

My only issue with the way sprint does it, is when you use the insurance, they want to send you a phone, rather than give you one on the spot... I've run into two issues where I've had to replace a phone, each of them within the 3 week grace period, the first was a Moto Q, after 3 weeks... And again, when I upgraded to a "true smartphone, the Treo 755" Both within 3 weeks. I had nearly jump through hoops, when I got the Treo replaced, so I am crossing my fingers at this point that it remains working... I'm tired of driving down the freeway, and looking off at the exits to see if there is a Sprint store, I can get into.

An absolute YES. I had it on my 650 and just a few months ago, the local Sprint repair shop replaced my broken 650 with a brand new 650. No hassles...I just purchased a 755P and without any hesitation, I added the insurance.
