Question Is it a serious malfunction????

    HELP. THANK YOU.

I was using my Palm Treo 755p to listen to P Tunes and all of a sudden the screen started flashing the "Access Powered" Logo and than the Palm Logo. No matter what I do, ( including taking out the battery, charging it, and holding the power button) the phone will not shut off or turn on fully, it just keeps flashing those two screens. It almost seems like it boots up and quickly shuts down. It is a very expensive phone and I would hate for it to just leave me standing in the rain like this. This phone is my life. Any answers appreciated. What could be wrong. Possible solutions. Places to get it fixed?? Anything. Thanks

Well, that is a reset loop. Were you listening to tunes you put on the phone (.mp3?) or were you listening to internet radio? It really doesn't matter at this point, to get out of the reset loop you have to do a hard reset.

To do a hard reset on the 755, take out the battery - now you need to hold down the red power button while you put in the battery and when you see the Palm screen, let up on the power button and you should get a screen that asks "Erase all data?" you have to toggle up on the 5 way button to choose yes and it will reset the phone, erasing everything and setting it back to factory state.

Now you can do a hotsync to put your calendar and contacts back on the phone, but set the backup conduit in the Palm Desktop to "do nothing" that way if you have a corrupt file somewhere that you saved in a previous hotsync, you won't put it back on the phone. Now re-install each of your 3rd party programs back onto the phone ONE AT A TIME and after each install, listen to PTunes and see what happens. It could be also that the song file you were listening to was corrupt, so all of this might be overkill, but you have to do the hard reset to get out of the reset loop.
