Default "Knock" tones when switching apps?

Greetings all...

As a [VERY] long-time treo user, one thing has always bugged me and I've never found an answer to it.

I now have a 755p. I've noticed that sometimes when I switch applications, like leaving Blazer and going to the home screen, or even leaving the address book and going to the messaging screen, my Treo makes three or four "knock" tones in succession. Like "tock-tock-tock-tock" as it's switching to the next app. (Ok so maybe I should say "tock" tones?) I've noticed those tones on my previous 600 and 650 a well.

The phone doesn't freeze or reboot. It doesn't make the tones all of the time, but most of the time. The only 3rd party apps I have are:

2Day
DialByPhoto
SplashShopper

I'm thinking those tones are the Treo's way of telling me that something isn't completely right. Does anyone know what those tones mean?

Have you checked the system Sounds Preferences? I have the system sounds turned off.

Thanks for the response. Rather than turn the system sounds off, I'd really like to know why it's making those tones. It's gotta be some kind of warning or something. Most of the time it just makes the one "tock" sound switching to the next app, but when it makes multiple tones, I think something else is going on.

I might get brave and call Palm tomorrow. I'll post what they say.

It's normal. Whenever you switch to a different application, it makes that noise. I think it "knocks" more than once if the cpu is working on something when you try to open a different app.

nemomini, the knocking tone could also be your side buttons. Sometimes when you're holding the device too tight, you somehow press also the side button. It happens to me all the time..

Hope this helps...
