need help with chatteremail - Treo Forums

Hi all a newbie here and need help with chatteremail. Started this morning getting an error message of "the application cannot be launched because of a system error". Also the icon in applications is gone, but the files are there if you go into delete.

Please help.

Back the device up, execute a soft reset, delete ChatterEmail and then reinstall it - the link to the latest is http://chatteremailforum.com/index.p...3e9d9e674b3137

I was wondering how to tell him to do this Ben, since with ChatterEmail you have to actually go into the program and in the Options, choose Shut Down & Disconnect before you can delete the program, or it will leave pieces behind. But the OP said he cannot even open the program. Let's hope it works for him.

Not really a problem and once configured, no data is lost if storage to the card is selected. The pieces ChatterEmail leaves behind all begin with Chatter and then it is just a matter of looking for the index files - those begin with the mail-box name. One can even do a sesarch by Creator ID (ZRKa) and zap them that way. ChatterEmail is really one of the easier ones to clean up afterward. If you want a tough one, look in to Epocrates.

Can he just go to the apps menu pull down menu and select delete and select chattermail....

Sure he can and that is the recommended method; however, if any files are left over, the above option is available. The default launcher's delete function does not catch related files with different creator IDs, that is where an application monitoring application such as Uninstall Monitor provides superior performance.

re-install into main memory not sd card..

Chatter must be installed in main memory; on installation it will create mailbox storage folders on your card for you, but the main program must be on the phone.

EDIT: LOL I thought the poster before me was asking a question, but it seems they were stating a fact. Sorry for the over-ride.
