The new 800w now has wifi....Here is Chris' review too.

I live in a "known dead zone" where cell phone service is concerned. Verizon is the best option for this area, but even with them, I can only receive text messages and phone calls, but I can't send messages or answer the phone. Because of this, I am not paying for the data plan that would allow me internet/email/etc on my 755p. Is there any way I can get wifi now? Any chance I will be able to get it in the future? At least then, I could surf on my Treo at home, or at the library, or at any free hotspot. For me, wifi is really the only thing missing on my (mostly) great phone.

no wifi card for the treo 755; be sure that you have the newest PRL for your phone installed; that will help in roaming, perhaps you might get some better signal.
Just a question, do you by any chance have the replacement insurance plan on your 755? If you can't even get a phone signal (to use data) where you live, I would take the 755 back and ask for it to be replaced with the 800W and maybe pay a bit more; at least you would have wifi capability.

If you have a weak signal this may help but no signal might not.
There is a product that will receive and boost cell service to your home. A friend has one and he uses it in the mountains where he can get a signal but his phone can't quite reach back to the tower. This antenna type booster I believe is like two-three hundred dollars. I think it works like a repeater.

I would research before you buy and be sure you have some sort of signal where you need it to connect.

Just trying to learn and talk at the same time here.
I have a 3 watt cell amp and a wilson electronics trucker antenna that we use out at our cabin in Montana. I can not get a single bar of signal with the handset alone, however with the ext antenna, I have 3/4 signal strength. I strongly recommend the the wilson electronics antennas, I have them on all our vehicles, some magnetic mount bases and some are hard fixture mirror clamp mounts.
Here are the 2 best places I've found for signal strength solutions. I bought my Cradlepoint PHS-300 router from the 3 gstore
www.3gstore.com
Friends of mine use maximumsignal for the cellular amps and antennas with great success. WWW.MaximumSignal.Net
I have one of my antennas equipped with a mount for a surveyor's tri-pod, so no matter where I go, I can plant the tripod in the dirt and have the best possible signal in minutes. This setup has even worked in Yellowstone, Glacier national park, and Mt Rushmore/ Blackfoot hills region.
