Question overall - happy or unhappy?

Hi, guys. I'm a Treo 700p owner. My friend is looking for recommendations on a new smartphone (his first). Would love your input.

As you know, until the Maintenance Release patch for the 700p was released, our 700p's were not very stable in most cases. I'm happy to say that my 700p has been great since the 2nd MR patch was installed.

Now, what I'd like to know is...are you 755p owners happy with the phone right out of the box? Or, is the 755p screaming for a Maintenance Release of its own?

---

If the 755p is in bad shape, I may just recommend the Blackberry 8830 World Edition smartphone, instead.

Thanks for your input, guys. Cheers!

Big ups to the Treo 755p. I've had it since July and haven't had any major issues (nothing requiring anything more than a hard reset) since then. 100x the phone of the Treo 700p, would pay even more than I did to get another one if anything happend to it!

All thumbs up. My only minor beef would have been a larger capacity battery. Compared to my 650, the battery life is a bit less. But feature wise and everything else, it's been pretty good.

I upgraded from a 650 and I could not be more pleased. The reception, volume, size everything is great.

I had a Palm650 on the Cingular network, I was very pleased with it. When I went to Sprint, they offered me a Moto Q. for pennies on the dollar... I went against my better judgement and went with it. What a sorry excuse for a phone/pda. I came back with the 755p. I couldn't be happier. I did have some issues a week or so ago, where I had to have it replaced after only 3 weeks. However, with the palm desktop and the back up capabilities... it's really not a problem.

My main gripe with the 755p is battery life, but Power Hero definitely helps.

It's pretty cool. I went from having 20% or so at the end of the day under normal usage to about 45%. I haven't had much luck with the Auto Bluetooth (takes to long to turn on Bluetooth and then transfer to my headset on incoming calls), but the option to turn off the network alone is a real battery saver.

I am generally very pleased. My only gripes are:

Voice dialing should be built in rather than with a "pay every month" app. Even with the Nuance software, you can't initiate calls with a Bluetooth headset.

The phone voice quality (what I hear, I am clear to those I call) is not nearly as good as with a dedicated phone. It was bad enough that I traded for another one within my original 30 days. No difference.

I'll be checking out Power Hero as well. Thanks kreth.

As a former 650 user, the battery life is a bit lower than what I was used to. I may be checking out the larger capacity battery that Seido has (the 2100mah)
http://store.everythingtreo.com/cont...8-37--2511.htm

That should help add back what the 650 used to give me, as far as battery life goes. Combine that with Power Hero, and it sounds like that could be a real battery life extender.
