Default Palm 755p newbie has some questions

    Hi,

I just bought a slightly used Palm 755p (sprint) a few days ago and so far I just love it. I've been playing with it and trying to get adjusted, but my learning curve is still far behind. I have a few questions:

    1. I believe my 755p came w/ Pocket Tunes v3.0.9 installed, there are 2 songs in there so far. I'd like to add more songs but can't figure out how to interface it w/ my computer when I run the Hotsync or Palm Deskop. Directions say a Pocket Tunes icon will appear on my computer, but this isn't the case, and I think since I did not install it then I cannot communicate with it.
Q: Do I need to purchase the Pocket Tunes program in order to get this to work correctly?
Q: Can I just transfer mp3 files into the MicroSD card and Pocket Tunes will automatically pick it up?

    2. I downloaded the Opera mini file from the 755p's web browser and it says it was saved to the card on my phone - but I cannot find this file. I opened the card and only shows 3 same files, but when I download it again it says "file already exists". Where is this file?

    3. The hot sync cable I received is not the original cable, it's a retractable 3rd party USB cable. There is no "hot sync button" as shown in diagrams. Is this an issue or will I be just find managing it manually through my computer?

    4. Where's the best place to find free 755p apps?

    Much appreciations!!

    Chris

I may be able to help you here but it has been a while.... Pocket tunes no help but search here or check with their site. I would think that you could install them to your card and pocket tunes would find them. Media folder??

The same kind of answer for your opera question. You need to get filez free here at treo store and find the download and run it and it probably will install. If not it maybe an app that needs to run on the treos rom not the card.

You should be able to plug the cable in and on the treo open the hot sync icon, press the logo and you should sync if everything is setup between your pc and treo.

Hi and welcome. Yes, the 755 comes with the standard Pocket Tunes application installed, which will play .mp3 files. If you want it to play .wma files or stream internet radio, you will need to pay to upgrade it to Pocket Tunes Deluxe 4 or 5 (5 was just released). the way to put music on your treo is to use a card reader and drag and drop the files onto your storage card in the phone or you can buy the program CardReader which makes your treo appear as a removable drive on your computer, so you just need to plug it in using your hotsync cable. Hotsyncing music files takes forever.

Second, Opera Mini needs java to be installed to work, and it is one tough cookie to get working well on the 755. Just search Opera Mini and you will get a bunch of threads. Java is no longer supported or distributed by Palm but you can find some threads that have a download link for it if you are determined to try it. I personally tried it and far prefer the onboard browser to Opera Mini.

If your hotsync cable has no hotsync button, just connect the phone to your computer and either press the hotsync icon on your phone or find it on your quickstart toolbar on your computer and start the sync from there.
