Hey guys, first post here.
I own 5 palm based PDA's and an Ipaq. I have been into PDA's for years.
I just got my first Treo, 700P, from Sprint on April 27th. So not even two weeks ago. I am new to them so just started a new 2 year contract. I used to have T-Mobile.
I have 30 days to return it so I could upgrade to the 755P for only $30.
I am unsure I would get the free activation again.
So would you guys do this? Is it worth it? I am not happy to read that the EVDO is even slower. I am also not sure if we can use a BlueTooth headset along with the voice dialer software yet.
What would you guys do? Should I jump on it while I can or just keep the 700P??
Maybe I should even think about getting the 700WX with WM6 coming out. <SIGH>

Definitely Yes. The Treo 755p supposed incorporates all the fixes that are forthcoming in the Treo 700p maintenance release. Techically, the specs aren't all that different, but the new form factor is great. It's not super thin, but it's an appreciable difference from the Treo 700p. Also features an improved keyboard and rubberized coating.
Add that up... fixes + new form factor + keyboard + rubberized coating. No brainer for me. The new 755p is priced at $279. Not sure how that affects your transaction.

I paid $349. Then with a $100 mail in rebate it drops to $249. The 755p is $379, after an instant $50 taken off then it also has a $100 rebate. So it will only cost $30 more. So that it not an issue.
Wow I just read about the voice software they offer. $6/month?? Why pay a monthly rate for something like that. That is just crazy!
Thanks for the advice.
Anyone else have any opinions. I have two weeks to deicide ;)

I just purchased a 700p on 4/19 .. still within my 30 days return policy... does the 755p have enough improvements that I should make that move?
I can return my 700p up until 5/19...
thanks

I echo Chris's statement on going with the 755p. Especially for the extra $30, it's worth it. You get the new size with no antenna nub, better Bluetooth and the rubberized case (which I am looking forward to).
The one thing that was holding me back was resigning a 2 yr contract, which I'm currently 13 months into the new one I signed last year. But for $379 before the rebate, I've convinced myself that it may be worth it to upgrade.

Yeah.. I'm convinced now to do it... only problem I just called the store where I purchased it .. I have until the 18th.. they said they are ordered and should be in, in a few days but they never know for sure.. and if they are not here by the 18th she said I would be stuck with my 700p. I could just return it... but then she said I wouldn't be eligible for any of the rebates or discounts for 6 months... they always have a way to win !

Seems like they should be able to do something for you... like maybe doing a pre-order before your 30 days is up.

So any guesses on when Verizon will pick this up?

If I had to guess about Verizon getting this, it would be sometime around November 2007. But that's just a guess based on 6 months of Sprint having it exclusive.

So if I just return my 700P I cannot just buy the 755p later and still get rebates? You lose rebate privileges if you return? This is the first I heard of this. That sucks.
That may mess me up as well if they do not come in on time. If that is the case I may just go with Verizon. I do not think Verizon is as good from what I have been reading but still...
I did not cancel my old cell phone yet just in case ;)
