| Palm Desktop I had the Palm 650 prior to the 755. I had Cingular, My laptop has the Vista operating system. I am unable to download from the Palm site the desktop... It's not available... When I sync my current 755, there are things that are brought over from Cingular... (Solutions for example)
I tried to download the Palm desktop for I believe the 700p, It may not be that model, I can't remember...
In order for me to get the Solutions and other things gone off my current device, will I have to do a hard reset, then start from scratch with the 700? or is there anything I'll be able to do?

| The Palm Desktop for Vista is out of beta and works very well on my Acer Laptop running Vista. As for syncing, you might consider renaming the current user folder, allow the desktop to set up a new user folder OR just rename the backup folder - that is where the old stuff is kept. As for installing your 650 apps directly to the 755, that is just asking for troubles. You are much, much better off installing one at a time. Ben

| Well, I downloaded the new desk top... did the sync... it's still there, I reckon it's something i'm going to have to live with... I figure no matter what I do, I'm going to have to start out from scratch, uninstall the desktop, start fresh... hard reset the phone...
I feel as if I'm in a pickle here...

| I think I got it finally... I ended up doing a hard reset, then downloading the desktop again, then making the sync a differant name, all in all... it's right I think

| The different name was not the answer, though that does it completely - just renaming the old backup folder takes care of the problem. Changing the name means that applications registered with the previous name will not operate due to a new device name. Ben

Ben | True enough, I've spent the better part of a couple hours getting things back in place... I can't seem to locate the backup folder, therefore I tried this, and it appears to have worked.

| With Vista, the palm desktop is no longer under Program Files - look under your computer's profile name: user\profile name\documents\Palm OS Desktop\your hot sync name.
