Plunker, when you open the Palm Desktop, you must have a username chosen in the upper right corner, to do a hotsync. it seems you are saying you are trying to do a hotsync with no usename chosen? Perhaps I am mis-understanding.

There is a user name or profile that matches my phone. But when I try to set the conduits it is grayed out. If I go to the icon on the task bar I can access the setting but it does not show a user name?? Did you guys have to setup a user name and a profile?

I am going to uninstall again and redownload palmdesktop and try again. The hot sync just sits at syncing tasks for ugh from now on....I think I have 5 tasks in there.

well, if I may suggest, use the Palm Desktop from the installation CD that came with the 755; it is a bit different from the one on the Palm website. You did install it right over the Desktop from your 650, right? Your old username should already be in there, with the added conduits for the 755.

The disk that came with my slightly two week old treo was a palmdesktop for a centro. I loaded that but was having a few issues so I deleted and downloaded the one from palm. On the site it says I may have problems with that version if I installed one from the cd...

Maybe you can't delete these programs. The disk that came with the treo did have the uptodate version for the 755p I just don't know if there were extras that came on it for the centro that could be messing me up....

If this latest download does not work I will ask palm.....you know the problem I had with the disk version was setting up bluetooth which I did get set up with the downloaded version...I think my settings were wrong so I may go back and reload it...

Well, wonder how you got a CD for a Centro with your 755? Did you buy at a store, where you can take it and exchange it?

anyway, use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall just the new desktop; be sure that you have Show Updates checkmarked at the top of the Add/Remove Programs page, then scroll down until you find Palm Desktop and only remove the latest update dated for when you got your 755; the older one will be for your 650 and you want to keep that one installed. Then if you want to download the desktop for the 755 from the Palm welbsite, you will be putting it over fresh.

I have all ready deleted the older version from my 650. I sync mainly with my mac at home and just want to update contacts and calendar on my work pc... I am going to try the download now and if it does not work I will get the cd again.....thanks

Plunker, I did not understand that you were trying to hotsync on two different computers, that takes something a little different. Read this on the Palm website, scroll down to One Device, Two computers.

Dollface read what??? I found it. I sync at home (mac) with syncing everything with missing sync. Really cool. Then at work I try to have the handheld to overwrite but that is where I am running into problems..with setting up the conduits.

Hmmm...I synced and everything seems to work. I added a appointment to calendar to see if it will sync it. Strange but if I try to open palm desktop it asks me to add a user....which it did during setup. I can set my conduits from the hot sync manager on the task bar but can't open the program without it prompting me to add user.

Update: I think my problems are with my pc. I will get hotsync errors and then try and open a program and get a windows error that the program needs to be re installed or that I am low on memory on the pc. If I shut down the pc and restart I seem to be able to hot sync a number of times before or if I get the errors again. I usually have my browser and outlook open at the same time. Outlook Is one program that said I need to reload to work but after the power off it works and I could sync fine.

I was going to reload from my cd the palm program but I just sync outlook at work anyway.

So it looks like it was not palm but windows (dell) and 512 of ram and maybe some spyware...
