| Run adaware used to run spybot but would not work with norton security 2008. I will reinstall since I am using a different virus protection.
Went ahead and installed a new palm desktop from the cd since the other would prompt me for a new user when I tried to open it. Will update everyone on how the cd version works. Syncing as a type.....

| Hiya plunker:
Just my $.02....you really should use at least two different spyware products. Ad-Aware 2008 is a pretty slick update and SpyBot Search and Destroy has also greatly improved over time. I do run both. AS WITH ANY PRODUCT OF THIS NATURE, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK FOR UPDATES FREQUENTLY.
I have gotten into the habit of checking weekly. Ad-Aware seems to post updates a bit more frequently, but both seem very well supported.

| Gosh, Ad-Aware and SpyBot - I have used both in the past until one great and lovely day 3 wonderful months ago....I have 2 17" Vista laptops, both are high end. The oldest one is an Acer and I purchased it almost immediately upon the arrival of Vista. The Acer is quick, but it sure did not like adding new hardware via the USB - got tired of it and purchased a Gateway. The youngest son downloaded a tune on the Acer (the router no longer allows the sites he was visiting) and got a trojan. The trojan was not really harmful, but sure was persistent. After 2 days of deleting it and it coming back and working with the 2 above applications and one other, I gave another application a try - PcTools Spyware Doctor and wow, it zapped that trojan on the first try.
I purchased a second copy and it now runs on both Vista laptops. I use Spybot to lock the preferences, and did so before the trojan came on board - but it did not work and as I mentioned, after working for 2 days with the other 2 applications and manually working on the registery, I decided that I needed to continue looking.

| Ahem....uh, sure....
Just a little NY sarcasm. I am still using XP and it has been a solid performer. I see no reason to "upgrade?" to a known problem that is still apparently not really resolved. I may just hold out for the next iteration, Windows 7 (AKA Blackcomb and Vienna?), but who knows where the industry will be in a couple of years.
Maybe Apple, Trump or even Warren Buffett will buy Microsoft?
Hugs,

| Me too, I'm still whistling a happy tune with XP Professional. I have no need to change. Why fix what isn't broke?
