Saving Text Messages

Hi, I was wondering if there were a way to save all text messages in a conversation with someone until I wanted to delete them? I've noticed that it automatically starts removing texts after so many in the conversation and I'd like to save them all until I want to delete them if possible. anyone know if this is possible and how to do it?

There is TreoDesktop - http://www.treodesktop.com/ and SMSConvert. I have tried both and stuck with SMSConvert due to no particular reason.

So with either of those programs do I have to manually back everything up whenever I want to save my texts?
