    Default Side button

I've been having a problem, with my side button. I set it in preferences, to go to sms, however, it defaults back to mail...

Anyone else have this issue ever, and what short of a hard reset can I do?

well, this is not an answer to your question, but if that side button wants to be your mail button, perhaps you can make your envelope button go to SMS?

I thought of that, however, I've been told I have ocd... So I like things just so.. I'm not sure when it started doing it... However, it's only been a week or so, no matter what I do, it seems to default back to mail.

No matter what I put there, it always goes back to mail.

That seems odd, even for a Treo. Is the 755p side button mapped differently that the 650? Out of the box, I believe the 650 side button was mapped to the Real Player program and if something was happening I would expect it to revert to the factory set up.

I don't think it would be mapped to the mail program, which already has a dedicated button.

    Strange indeed....

I can't remember what it was originally, I tend to think it was the voice recorder? Anyway, I changed mine to something else.

Blueonblacksgtrat, have you tried doing the alternate button assignment, which is at the bottom of that assignment screen. You have to press you white alternate button on the keyboard first then the side button and you get an entire set of different assignments (for all the hard buttons you can do this)

Plunker, be careful with that side button if you leave it for the recorder. If it is accidentally pressed in, away you go with a 2 hour recording, or until you realize it.

Also, your mail is already assigned to the little envelope hard button, no need to make is a favorite.

My envelope button came programed (unless I changed it and forgot) with messaging... I really like the new 755p but I am still tinkering to get it set up. I could sync via bluetooth with missing sync (off and on) so I am using the cable.

Now my card is here and I can download ringers to my card, reader must be an older one that won't read the 4g cards. (I thought Kingston said it would and I am waiting for a response.)

What kind of readers are you guys using???

Thanks again dollface for info on the 755p, helped me take the leap.....
